From Zanzibar: 2-Day Selous Safari with Scenic Flights, Boat Safari & Lodge Stay

Start your adventure with an early morning hotel pickup and transfer to the airport (if you’ve selected the option with hotel transfer). At 7:30 AM, board a twin-engine plane, chosen for maximum comfort and safety, and enjoy a scenic flight from Zanzibar to Selous Game Reserve (now part of Nyerere National Park), landing at Mtemere Airstrip around 8:20 AM, with beautiful aerial views of Zanzibar and the surrounding landscapes.

After landing, meet your experienced local safari guide and begin a full-day game drive in a specially designed 4×4 vehicle. Each vehicle is built to give every guest a guaranteed panoramic view of the wild, with open sides and tiered seating, so you feel fully immersed in the landscape. Explore the reserve’s diverse habitats—from open savannahs to riverbanks and woodlands—as you search for wildlife like elephants, lions, giraffes, hippos, buffalos, zebras, and possibly even the elusive African wild dogs. Your guide will share all the juicy insider stories of the wild, teaching you fascinating facts about the animals that you’ve probably never heard before—making every moment of your safari truly unforgettable.

Around 12:30–2:00 PM, take a break for a delicious bush lunch and refreshments, served in the heart of the wilderness. After lunch, continue your afternoon game drive through different areas of the park, arriving at your lodge in the late afternoon (5–6 PM). There, you’ll receive a short briefing on the next day’s activities before enjoying a relaxing dinner and overnight stay surrounded by nature.

On Day 2, start with a peaceful early breakfast at the lodge before heading out for a scenic 2-hour boat safari along the Rufiji River, where you’ll spot hippos, crocodiles, and birds from a completely different angle.

Afterwards, catch your return twin-engine flight to Zanzibar at 10:00 AM. If the morning flight isn’t available, no worries! You’ll take a later flight at 4:00 PM — and as a bonus, enjoy an extra adventure such as a guided walking safari or a local village tour, along with lunch, all free of charge.
Upon arrival in Zanzibar, we’ll say goodbye to guests who did not select the hotel transfer, while those with the transfer option will continue comfortably to their hotels.
