See two sides of Zanzibar in one day: a quad ride through the countryside with a village visit, then an afternoon dhow trip to snorkel Mnemba’s coral reefs. Lunch included.

Full description

Zanzibar is much more than its beaches, and this full-day adventure shows you how much the island has to offer. In one day, you ride a quad through the countryside, meet people in a local village and snorkel in the clear waters around Mnemba. It’s a varied, active day that takes you well beyond the usual beach-and-hotel routine.

The day starts with a hotel pick-up at around 9 AM (if you’ve added hotel transfer to your booking), followed by a drive to the quad starting point. At around 10 AM, it’s time to ride. For about 1.5 hours, your guide leads you along trails through rural Zanzibar and open countryside, with short stops along the way at spots like rice fields or sugar cane plantations. It’s a side of the island most visitors never see from their sunbed.

Along the way, you stop in a local village to meet the locals and get a feel for everyday life. If you’d like to bring something small, school supplies such as pens and notebooks are always welcome, and the children are especially happy to receive them. Your guide can help you hand them over.

The tour runs on double quads, with two people sharing each bike. If you’d prefer a quad to yourself, add the Single quad option when booking (riders must be at least 12). The quads are fully automatic and easy to handle, so no previous experience or driving licence is needed. Children under 12 can join as passengers.

After the ride, there’s time to freshen up and enjoy lunch, which is included, before we head to the coast.

In the afternoon, we head to Muyuni Beach, where you meet your local crew and set off by traditional wooden dhow at around 3 PM. Mnemba Island itself is private, so the boat stays in the surrounding waters, which is where the reefs are. Mnemba is busiest in the morning, so by the afternoon the water is calmer and less crowded. The Mnemba Conservation Area entrance fee is included, so there’s nothing extra to pay on the day.

You get two guided snorkeling stops at coral reefs full of tropical fish. Snorkeling gear is included, and life jackets are available for your safety and comfort. Non-swimmers are welcome too: you can join in the water with a life jacket or simply stay on board and enjoy the view.

Dolphins live in these waters and sometimes appear in the afternoon as well. If they do, it’s a lovely bonus. We follow our Animal & Nature First approach: we never chase or disturb the dolphins, and everything happens on their terms.

After snorkeling, you relax on board with fresh tropical fruit and refreshing drinks. If the tide allows, we may also stop at a sandbank to swim and walk on the soft white sand. As the light turns golden, we cruise slowly back to shore, arriving around 6 PM. From there, a transfer takes you back to your hotel (if you’ve added hotel transfer to your booking).
